LCR Honda RC211V 2006 - Casey Stoner - 2

On a relaxing Sunday, decal works on the cowlings have been completed. I have applied the color blocks decals on the red and black colors. Those broken areas have been covered with some Finisher Lumi Red and Gunze GX-1.

Since the kit is released, I have seen many of the completed works from the Internet. However, almost all of them have golden beams which are broken of damaged as a result of clear coating. I have been discussing with some of my fellows and this time, I have applied a layer of metal primer before any clear coating. This is the test I have always been thinking about. Our theory is that in order to prevent the thinner-drying process of the clear coats pulling away the golden beam, the metal primer, which does not contain any thinner, can help to isolate the effect and keeps a strong protection over the golden beam.
I am yet to confirm the result since any clear coat has yet been applied. But I really look forward to how this approach will go.

Beside, I really didn't want to apply any carbon fire decal this time. So I just spray the pattern on it with Gloss Black-Gun Metal scheme.

LCR Honda RC211V 2006 - Casey Stoner

It has been awhile since I have started this kit, as a memorial for Stoner returning to the Honda camp. In his rookie year back in 2006, Casey was the rider for the satellite team. He was in a very quick move to the Ducati camp and became one of the major rivalry against Rossi. In 2011 season, Casey is returning to Honda as the one of the 3 factory riders, which gives honda a definite advantage over the race for factory championship.

In fact, Casey's ducati in 2009 and 2010 were both very beautiful rides. Yet, no injection kit is released for them. I think this satellite bike will serve as one of the milestones for Casey in the race for the championship over the years. And hopefully I will manage to get it done properly.

Everything went on as usual, gaps between the parts were filled and sanded. Primer was applied checking for any defects.

The painting work on the cowlings was simple. Only black and white will do the job.

And as I when on for the decal work over the cowlings, it has been a reat challenge. Since the chrome golden decal requires a stronger decal texture, the decals are much thicker than usual in terms of Cartograf prints. And I failed to notice that I could have actually masked off the red and flading black painting instead of putting on the large pieces of decal over the large surface....
Anyway, I think I will have some help with some Finisher paints for the red later on.

F-14A/B Tomcat VF-111 VF-103 (3)

After a trip to Thailand last week, it has been a blazing week here in Hong Kong. So I barely move out sitting with the airbrush at all. But I managed to get a little bit progress for the F-14s.

The air intakes are painted and washed finally and assembled. Hopefully I will be putting the parts together soon and start the rest of the paiting job with the main frame.

Nissan GTR R35

Okay, I know I am a bit too unfaithful to all my current builds. But to save efforts when applying clear coat later on, I have decided to start another kit altogether. This is the Nissan GTR which I have built one earlier in total black. This time, I like it to be in light metalic grey, in which Finisher Light Gun Metal is employed.

I didn't plan to apply any addon to it. I started with preparing the body, with thinned walls at the inside of the fenders, as well as smoothened surfacer after primer.

The Finisher Light Gun Metal is a very nice paint. I have sprayed the paint directly on the primer surface and the paint saturated very easily.
At the same time, I have painted the bonnet in gloss black which soon, will be covered with carbon fire decals.

It looks like a very straight forward build. Hope I can get it running smoothly.

SS Pz NCO LAH Kharkov (14)

So, I guess I will just put it like this at the moment.
Having the snow being recreated with soda powder, I have the base completed, with some MIG pigments. The wooden box has been darkened and put aside.

SS Pz NCO LAH Kharkov (13)

For me, putting together a proper floor has always been a tough task for my 1;35 figures. On this build, I have finally come up with the idea of a little snow floor with some tool boxes and fuel tanks around.

With reference to the wooden box from Tamiya kits, I have built a wooden box myself. I guess I will be putting some little objects on it instead of this telephone box. But anyway I will have the boxes painted first.
