Valentino Rossi - Team Fiat Yamaha 2009 (16)

The cowling was actually painted with base white and pearl color in early July. I have also got a layer of GX100 clear coat on top before I move on with other paint as a protective layer.

As a secret poject is undergoing, after a series of scheduled work flow, it finally get to the point where the cowling of this M1 is being painted. It happened to be a more comfortable work where working on this blue this time as this is already the third time I am doing this livery. ^^

Wooden base #1

Few months back, I was in a craft supply store where I found some wood stain for wooden bases. I didn't get to try them at that time, But later on, I realised that will certainly help when preparing a base for my model kits. So in this weekend, I have run into the shop again and get some stuffs and try them out staight away!

I have got myself 2 small wooden base for just HK$28. And bottled stain is a red-brown color and costed HK$38. This is quite straight forward task. Just simply brush the waterly stain on to the wooden base, let the wood absorts the color and dry, and repeat a couple of time until the color get solid. That's all.

I left the base drying overnight and have a very light clear coat over it. And this comes to the result you see in the picture below. It just looks like a original reddish brown base I could find in other professional figure shops! But it just cost a lot less! I am glad to share this idea with you guys and hope it helps!

Ford Focus - Monza Rally 2007 (6)

Today I have revised my progress plan for the coming weeks and hopefully I can manage to get rid of a couple of more kits by the end of the year.
But just now, I have only managed to have the rear wing fitted together, primed and painted and decaled.

LAH Grenadier, the Ardennes (6)

A little more progress on the accessaries. The leathers were painted in different shades of dark color, with a few highlights to create the contrast. I will have to work on the belts around the machine gun and the gloves on the coming evening.

Ford Focus - Monza Rally 2007 (5)

Once again, this is another horrifying mistake! I have left several holes unfilled on the roof even after the all the decals around are inplace!
The kit originally prepared a few more holes to fix the altenna and radio on the roof of the ride. But this event's ride, it is a little different from the WRC specification. And some of these holes have to be filled. And the fool of myself hasn't even touched the instruction for the assembly even after the decal works!

And this lesson punished me for Yet-another-time! I have to fill the holes and repaint the areas without affecting the decals which are closely around.

And thank God the brilliant covering power for Gunze GX1 is actually powerful enough for fix this. I have filled the holes with the mix of powder and super clue, had the surface lined up and painted again.

To be honest, I really have no confidence on this approch even I have been thinking about all day long today. But I am so glad that it works.

Ford Focus - Monza Rally 2007 (4)

Finally, I am getting back to the kits where I will need to use the air brush.
I am painting the white color today and this Focus has some progress now.

The decal work didn't look too complicated so I work it out along the way. Since Hasegawa has prepared Cartograf decals for the kit, it became another pleasure to work on the decals. The basic works were done over the body and hopefully I can give it a coat of clear some day in the next weekend so I have the decal protected as soon as I can.

LAH Grenadier, the Ardennes (6)

Little promise for the day, camo was painted on both arms. I am starting to prepare the minor accessaries around and hopefully can fix the arms without blocking the way the brush should go to.
