Initial D - Toyota AE86 Tureno (9)

This is probably the last chapter of this build. I have spent a Saturday morning completing all the smaller details like seat belts and wipers. At the last step I closed the body and I will need to add the final details at the engine room just brighten it up when opened.

Initial D - Toyota AE86 Tureno (8)

Finally I am now running into the final straight! I have polished the body and quickly finalized on the windows and frames. The headlights and taillights were a bit tricky and I still need to work a bit on the direction lights now..... Hope I will be able to get this done this weekend.

Initial D - Toyota AE86 Tureno (7)

Today I got some time while watching the Jerez 2012 MotoGP race, so I added some wirings and hostings around the engine room. Looks pretty simple but I hope to gt some weathering afterwards just to make this more a used condition.

Initial D - Toyota AE86 Tureno (6)

There has been a step forward after some weekS! In fact, the cockpit has been pretty complete since Dec 2011. But I just didn't even have time for a update. So there are entirely 4 months this kit been sitting there until I picked up some engine details on the bench. The undercarriage is completed and I just need to give a little weathering at the end of the progress.

The engine room is pretty straight forward. The details supplied by the kit is quite good and I just need to do some pipes and wiring just to enrich the details. Looking forwards are the polishing of body and then it will hopefully come straight to the end.

Initial D - Toyota AE86 Tureno (5)

Here is a little update for the ride, as I applied the second round of clear coat, leveled for the decal thickness and then had the third flooding coat as well.
I will let it settle for a few weeks before polishing it.
Btw, this time, the Gunze GX100 clear is used.

Initial D - Toyota AE86 Tureno (3)

Having the cockpit ready for paints, I have started moving on the white color on the body. The work is very straight forward as the body itself is really simple.

I have worked particularly on the chassis as I think this AE86 has to be aged and certainly in a used condition. That's why I have put up some dirts and mud colors on the chassis. I didn't do it like the AFV kits with pigment yet as I still want to keep the chassis clean. Perhaps I will work more on the weathering at the finishing stage.

Initial D - Toyota AE86 Tureno (2)

It took me more than one single day to have the rollcage setup! I have to actually built 2 to have the desired shape.... This has bee really horrible as I actually didn't expect to be draging so long.

And I also spent a little time to detail a bit on the original seat.

Some strips are added and I also added the little back pocket as well.

Initial D - Toyota AE86 Tureno

Just when I was clearing up some of the stuffs on top my desk, I picked up this kit and suddenly would like to get a very quick run to complete the kit, so as to leave up more space.

So this is how it was started. More like a tradition, I started by removing all the molding lines around and thinned down the fenders from the inside, as well as hihglighted some of the panal lines where neccassary.
