Few months back, I was in a craft supply store where I found some wood stain for wooden bases. I didn't get to try them at that time, But later on, I realised that will certainly help when preparing a base for my model kits. So in this weekend, I have run into the shop again and get some stuffs and try them out staight away!
I have got myself 2 small wooden base for just HK$28. And bottled stain is a red-brown color and costed HK$38. This is quite straight forward task. Just simply brush the waterly stain on to the wooden base, let the wood absorts the color and dry, and repeat a couple of time until the color get solid. That's all.
I left the base drying overnight and have a very light clear coat over it. And this comes to the result you see in the picture below. It just looks like a original reddish brown base I could find in other professional figure shops! But it just cost a lot less! I am glad to share this idea with you guys and hope it helps!
